Project Victory

Resized_450.330.jpgProject Victory provides rehabilitation and combat stress counseling for Operation New Dawn, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom active duty service members and veterans diagnosed with brain injury or post concussive syndrome while deployed. Services are provided at no cost to our service members through grants received by the TIRR Foundation. Services within Project Victory are provided by The Transitional Learning Center's Galveston, Texas facility.


Reported Symtoms May Include:

  • Trouble with memory, attention or concentration
  • Difficulty organizing tasks
  • Blurry vision or eyes tire easily
  • Easily angered or irritated
  • Difficulty inhibiting behavior, impulsive
  • More sensitive to sounds, lights or distractions
  • Impaired decision-making or problem-solving
  • Feeling tired all the time
  • Headaches or ringing in the ears
  • Slowed thinking, moving, speaking or reading
  • Balance and/or dizziness 


Program Goals for our service members and veterans

Improve cognitive, emotional, social and vocational functioning by acquiring compensatory strategies.

Maximize quality of life, balance, vision, pain management and functioning in the community.

Educate the family unit regarding the effects of brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the rationale for rehabilitation and psychotherapy, and the need to make accomodation for changes in functioning.

Assist in developing and accepting realistic goals.

Assist in identifying strategies and opportunities to achieve the highest possible level of functioning in personal adjustment, family and social relationships, academic endeavors and/or vocational status.
