Specializing solely in post-acute brain injury since 1982

We realize that geography often plays a roll in a family’s decision when deciding where to send a loved one following a traumatic brain injury, but the rehab received will impact the patient and family for years to come.

NEVER Sacrifice quality for convenience!

TLC’s Video Phone Program

videoPhone1.jpgTLC recognizes that distance and/or location often play a role in the decision making process.  We always stress that decisions such as where to place a loved one shouldn’t be made solely on the location of a facility.  The decision to send your loved one to what you consider to be a better option when there are closer options is difficult.  But sacrificing quality for convenience is exactly what families will often do.

In an effort to help families get over the worries and stresses of distance, TLC has purchased the latest in video phone technology. These units will be made available to the families of our patients on an as-needed basis, which will be determined by the patient’s case manager. It will allow the patient, under the direction of their case manager, to have contact via the video phone at specific times during the week with their family and/or caregiver no matter where they live. This live, full color video device attaches to a regular phone, and the cost is the same as a regular phone call.  This unit will allow our patients to see the party with whom they are speaking, as well as seeing themselves on the screen when it is set up in the combo view mode. This very portable device has excellent video clarity, is about the size of a desk-sized portrait frame, and is designed to be very “user friendly.” It will be loaned to the families for their use during their family member’s stay at TLC. Upon the patient’s release, the video phones will be returned to TLC.
