The Transitional Learning Center (TLC) at Lubbock is expanding its services to include Long-term Supported Living and respite services for individuals with acquired brain injury.
TLC, a post acute rehabilitation program based out of Galveston, TX opened its Lubbock facility in April of 2008, offering comprehensive post acute brain injury rehabilitation serving not only the West Texas community, but New Mexico, Oklahoma and Colorado as well. Now with the addition of the long term supported living program named WestWay, TLC's continuum of care for the West Texas community is complete.
TLC, again draws upon it’s over 30 years of experience as a PIONEER in the field of brain injury rehabilitation to create a program in which we would feel comfortable having our loved ones reside. In doing so, we created an environment that replicates a normal home lifestyle for our residents with acquired or brain injury.
In keeping with TLC’s mission of providing a truly community integrated program, we developed a program that does not isolate our residents from the community; a program aimed at reducing medical recidivism and increasing functional skills while at the same time addressing the wishes of families who want their loved ones to be involved in the community as often as possible. WestWay is only minutes away from TLC, Lubbock's two major medical centers and a myriad of other community activities. Its central location provides our residents direct access to the community and the resources it has to offer every single day.
TLC offers a broad range of treatment for survivors of traumatic brain injury, stroke, encephalitis and other causes of acquired brain injury. Its programs include an integrated day program, a comprehensive inpatient community re-entry program, long-term supported living and respite services.
